Residency in Spain

We personally guide UK residents through Spanish residence-permit applications, from choosing the right route to submission and your post-arrival TIE card.

Living in Spain, the right way

A Spanish residence permit lets you live — and, depending on the route, work or study — in Spain for longer than the 90-day Schengen limit. Spain offers several distinct routes, each built around a different basis: remote income, passive income, your own self-employed activity, or study. (Spain’s investor “Golden Visa” route was abolished on 3 April 2025 and is no longer available.) The correct one depends on your circumstances, and the rules differ by route and change over time.

We provide application support, not decisions — the outcome always rests with the Spanish authorities. You can read the official position on the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (opens in new tab) and consulate pages, and we confirm the current rules for your case.

Frequently asked questions

Which Spanish residence routes do you handle?
We work most often with the Digital Nomad, Non-Lucrative (elective residence), Self-Employed (autónomo) and Student routes, plus the practical Temporary Residence and TIE steps once you arrive. The right one depends on your income, work and study plans.
Is the Spanish Golden Visa still available?
No. Spain closed its Golden Visa (residence-by-investment) to new applications on 3 April 2025, when the route was abolished by law. For living in Spain we now work with the Digital Nomad, Non-Lucrative (elective), Self-Employed (autónomo) and Student routes — tell us your plans and we will match you to the right one.
What is the TIE and do I need one?
The TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) is the physical foreigner identity card you obtain in Spain after your residence is approved. We explain when it applies and help you prepare for the appointment.
How long does a Spanish residence application take?
Timelines are indicative and vary by route, consulate or immigration office and current workload. Figures change, so we confirm a realistic expectation for your specific case rather than quote a fixed period.
Can you guarantee approval?
No. We provide application support, document pre-checks and guidance; the decision rests entirely with the Spanish authorities. We focus on presenting a complete, well-organised application.
