Travelling to Egypt from the UK

Unlike many of the destinations on this site, Egypt requires a visa from most visitors — including British passport holders travelling for a holiday. The question is usually not whether you need one but which route to use, and that depends on your nationality, where you fly into and where you intend to travel once you are there.

Our UK-based team confirms the right route for your trip, completes the application with you and checks the supporting documents before anything is submitted.

Routes we support

  • Tourist e-Visa. An electronic visa applied for online before travel, available to eligible nationalities and normally issued for a short stay. We complete the official application with you and make sure the details match your passport and bookings exactly.
  • Consular visas. Where the electronic route does not apply — because of nationality, purpose or length of stay — the application is made through the Egyptian Consulate in London.
  • South Sinai resort entry. Travellers flying into the Sinai resort airports and remaining in that area have historically been able to use a free short entry permit rather than a visa. It is restricted to that area, so we check it against your itinerary — including any excursions — before recommending it.
  • Business and longer stays. Business visits, work and study have their own requirements and are arranged through the consulate.

Entry rules can change, so always confirm the current position for your situation on the official GOV.UK Egypt entry requirements (opens in new tab) before you book.

What we help with

  • Confirming which route suits your trip and checking current eligibility
  • Completing the e-Visa or consular application on the official channel
  • Checking that your itinerary is actually covered by the route you are using
  • A pre-submission review of your evidence pack for completeness
  • Booking any appointment required at the consulate
  • Drafting a clear cover letter and supporting documents

What to prepare

  • A passport valid well beyond your intended stay, with blank pages
  • Confirmed flight and accommodation bookings
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for your trip
  • A passport-style photograph meeting the current specification
  • For business, work or study: invitation, employer or institution paperwork

Requirements differ by route and can change, so we will give you a precise list once we understand your plans. Eligibility rules are set by the Egyptian authorities, and the decision rests with them — we make sure your application is well prepared and clearly presented.

When you are ready, contact us with your nationality, travel dates and the reason for your visit, and we will confirm the right route and start your application.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa to visit Egypt?
Most visitors to Egypt need a visa, including British passport holders travelling for tourism. The usual routes are an electronic tourist visa applied for online before travel, or an application through the Egyptian Consulate in London. We confirm which route fits your nationality and plans.
What is the Egypt e-Visa?
It is an electronic tourist visa applied for online before travel, typically issued for a short single-entry or multiple-entry stay. Eligibility depends on nationality, and the official portal is the only place it should be bought — we help you complete it correctly rather than through a reseller.
I am only visiting Sharm el-Sheikh. Do I still need a visa?
Travellers arriving at certain Sinai airports and staying only within the South Sinai resort area have historically been able to enter on a free, short entry permit instead of a visa. It does not allow travel elsewhere in Egypt, including day trips beyond the permitted area, so we check it against your actual itinerary before you rely on it.
How long does an Egypt visa take?
It depends on the route and on the consulate’s workload. Electronic applications are usually quicker than consular ones, but neither timescale is guaranteed, so we recommend applying well before you travel.
Can you guarantee my Egypt visa will be approved?
No. The decision rests entirely with the Egyptian authorities. We provide application support, document checking and guidance so your application is complete and clearly presented.
