Japan visa support for UK residents
Japan is a popular destination for tourism, business and longer-term study or work. Entry requirements depend on your nationality, your passport and the purpose and length of your stay. We provide calm, careful UK-based support so you apply through the right route with the correct documents.
Short stays: tourism and business
British citizen passport holders can visit Japan visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism or business. An extension of up to 90 additional days can be applied for at a Japanese immigration office. Travellers of some other nationalities do need a visa for short visits. Because this depends on your specific passport and circumstances, we always recommend confirming the current rules with the official Embassy of Japan in the UK (opens in new tab) before you book travel. If a short-stay visa is required for you, we help you prepare and submit it.
Longer stays: work and study
Stays for employment, study or other longer-term purposes generally require a visa arranged before travel, often supported by a Certificate of Eligibility obtained in Japan by your employer, school or sponsor. These routes have specific document requirements, so it helps to start early.
