Travelling to Mexico from the UK
British passport holders can normally visit Mexico for tourism or business without a visa. What surprises travellers is that the permitted stay is not fixed: it is decided by the immigration officer on arrival and written on your stamp, and a shorter period than the maximum is common. Arriving able to explain your plans, with return travel and accommodation confirmed, makes a real difference.
Our Mexico services cover visa applications for UK residents who hold other nationalities, residence routes for anyone moving there, and document preparation for visa-free travellers who want to arrive properly evidenced.
Routes we support
- Short visits (tourism and business). For nationalities that need one, a visitor visa is applied for at a Mexican consulate before travel. For visa-exempt travellers we focus on the evidence that supports the stay you are asking for at the border.
- Temporary residence. For stays beyond the visitor limit — for work, study, family or retirement — applied for at a consulate before travel and completed in Mexico after arrival.
- Permanent residence. For those qualifying through family ties, retirement income or time already spent as a temporary resident.
- Work. Employment normally requires a job offer from an employer registered with the Mexican immigration authority, arranged before you travel.
Entry rules can change, so always confirm the current position for your situation on the official GOV.UK Mexico entry requirements (opens in new tab) before you book.
