US visa and travel authorisation support from the UK

Travelling to the United States from the UK usually means one of two routes: an ESTA under the Visa Waiver Programme for short tourist or business trips, or a full nonimmigrant visa issued by the US Embassy. We help UK residents work out which applies and prepare a clean, well-organised application.

We are a UK-based consultancy. We provide application support — we do not make decisions, and all approvals rest entirely with US authorities.

Which route is right for you?

  • ESTA (Visa Waiver Programme) — typically suits eligible UK passport holders making short visits for tourism or business. It is applied for online and is not a visa. The current ESTA fee is $40.27 (increased January 2026).
  • B-1/B-2 visitor visa — for business or tourism when you are not ESTA-eligible, are staying longer, or have circumstances that require a full application and embassy interview.
  • Student and exchange routes (F, M, J) — for study or approved exchange programmes, usually after acceptance by a US institution.
  • Work and other categories — these depend heavily on sponsorship and individual circumstances; we will discuss your situation before advising.

Requirements and eligibility vary by nationality, travel history and purpose. You can confirm current rules and apply for ESTA on the official US ESTA service (opens in new tab), and review visa categories on the US Department of State travel site (opens in new tab).

What we help with

  • Confirming the right route for your trip and circumstances
  • Completing the ESTA application or the online visa form (DS-160) accurately
  • Checking your documents before submission to reduce avoidable errors
  • Helping book embassy appointments where an interview is required
  • Preparing a clear cover letter and supporting evidence
  • Explaining the interview process so you arrive prepared

What to prepare

  • A passport valid for your intended stay
  • Your travel dates and purpose of visit
  • Details of previous US travel and any prior refusals
  • Evidence of your ties to the UK (employment, study or family, as relevant)
  • Any institution, employer or invitation details for study, work or business trips

A common pitfall is applying under the wrong route or leaving fields inconsistent between forms and supporting documents — small mismatches can cause delays.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa to visit the USA from the UK?
Most UK passport holders travelling for tourism or short business can apply for ESTA under the Visa Waiver Programme rather than a full visa. Eligibility depends on your nationality, travel history and purpose, so we check this with you before you apply.
What is the difference between ESTA and a B-1/B-2 visa?
ESTA is an online travel authorisation for short visits by eligible Visa Waiver Programme travellers. A B-1/B-2 is a visitor visa applied for at the US Embassy, usually needed when you are not ESTA-eligible or are staying longer. We help you identify which applies to you.
Can you guarantee my US visa or ESTA will be approved?
No. All decisions are made solely by US authorities. We provide application support, document checking and preparation; we cannot influence or guarantee the outcome.
Do I have to attend an interview at the US Embassy?
Many full visa applicants attend an in-person interview at the embassy in London. We help you prepare your documents and understand the process, but appointment availability and requirements are set by the embassy.
How long does a US visa take to process?
Processing times vary by route, season and individual circumstances. We recommend applying well ahead of travel and always check current timings on the official US visa service.
